We all know what comes with the summer months: lots of fun outside activities outdoors. Well, not just that. The summer months bring the summer heat with them. So I have put together a list of recipes to beat the summer heat!
The summer heat calls for refreshing recipes.
There is one time of year when those recipes that call for a dose of ‘cool’ and ‘refreshing’ are a must. You got it, summer. I have a few must-haves when it comes to my family favorite treats. They are what make these recipes a win for all.
Fruit and more fruit.
Fruit is great for the warmer months for many reasons, one being the added water intake in each bite. Watermelon is a great fruit of choice for this family! Did you know you could make an amazing watermelon sorbet with only a few ingredients? If watermelon is not on your favorite list, there or so many others that are perfect for beating the heat: mango, papaya, strawberries, plums, grapes, pineapple, and kiwi.
Fruits can be added at any time of the day. Plus, as I mentioned above, they are so easy to work with when it comes to recipes!
Some great recipes that include fruit:
The cooler the recipe, the better.
From ice cream to popsicles, my kids are here for it. I mean, I am even here for it to beat the summer heat. You can make family favorite cool treats with ease from home and include the kids along with it. My kids love making popsicles. Possibly one of the easiest summer recipes for them to make! The only tough aspect of making these treats is the waiting time. I would have to say this is true for all of us.
It has gotten so easy for us to make our own popsicles at home. You can grab the popsicle molds from practically any store. We have kept it as simple as filling them with kool aid or other fruit juices. Freeze and enjoy!
We are obsessing over these s’mores popsicles and can’t forget to mention this cookie dough ice cream!
Charcuterie boards for on the go.
You all have probably heard about the charcuterie board craze. They are not only beautiful, but also a delicious way to incorporate different edible elements to one single platter. Charcuterie boards are a great for taking along with you too. They can be assembled and brought outdoors for a fun afternoon treat or to a picnic. Perfect for all those on the go occasions.
I love the fact that you can make it a food testing event. All those fruits I listed above? Add them all to the charcuterie board for everyone to eat and even test out. Colorful and fun food presentation makes it easier for our little ones to give something new a try!
making it a summer to remember.
Summers are made of those fun days outdoors and the special treats that make the summer, well, summer. This is the perfect time to put together refreshing recipes that will bring the entire family together while beating the summer heat.
Wishing you all a very happy and refreshing summer!
