Let’s ring in that New Year’s Eve, even if it is with Kids.
I don’t know about y’all, but I am more than ready to ring in the New Year. This year has been a freaking roller coaster of a disaster. Pretty sure a lot of y’all would agree with me on that one. New Year’s Eve may be looking a lot different due to the circumstances of 2020, but you can still enjoy it. Here is how we are celebrating New Year’s Eve with kids.
Make it exciting.
Celebrating New Year’s Eve is something to be excited about. Make it exciting for all! My kids love a good countdown, so get them excited about counting down to the New Year. Let’s see how we can make it exciting when kids are included.
Mock Countdown Bags
As I mentioned earlier, my kids are all about counting down. We have been doing it since they were little. I don't plan on my kids staying up until the actual countdown, so we will be doing a mock countdown. The timing between each bag opening all depends on your schedule. You will want to have 10 bags for opening. We will be opening a bag every 10 minutes. The last bag will be the New Year Grand Finale! So what is in each bag? I will have a piece of paper on each bag giving the kids a fun activity to do. Ex.) "Jump on one foot for 10 seconds" Make the activity engaging and fun!
Goals for the New Year.
I know that some don't like the idea of New Year's Resolutions. It all depends on how you go about creating those New Year's Resolutions. Come up with lists that are attainable and realisitic. This can be true for kids! Let them write out a list of things they would love to do this New Year. Maybe it is to read more books or maybe make more friends. So many great ideas for kids to have for their New Year's goals.
New Year's Eve Craft
What kid doesn't love a great craft? There are so many New Year's Eve themed crafts that are perfect for all kids. One easy and fun craft is the glitter fireworks! It is great for all ages. All you need is a cardboard tube like an empty toilet paper or paper towel roll, glue, paper, and glitter. If you want to create an easy cleanup environment, bring out those shirt boxes left over from Christmas.
Cut about 1"-2" slits onto one end of the cardboard tube. Fold the slits outwards. Next, take the glue and apply it to the slits. You can either have them due this to each individual slit or dip the tube into glue. Then press the tube down onto a blank piece of paper and lift up. Lastly, apply the glitter! If you are using a shirt box, you can have the paper inside the shirt box, then pour some of the glitter onto the paper and shake the shirt box back and forth until your 'fireworks' are covered with the glitter. This craft can also be done with paint instead of glue!

What kind of party is it without all the party supplies? Grab some New Year's Eve party supplies to make it feel even more like a celebration! We picked up all of ours from Target: Thank you Drive-Up pickup!
New Year's Eve 'Fancy' Drink
For as long as I can remember, I have related New Year's Eve to having a 'fancy' drink. Popping the bottle of champagne and celebrating the New Year. Fixing a 'fancy' drink for the kids makes the celebration even more special. What about a drink that can be made for adults or kids? A mock bubbly drink for kids with sparkling grape juice, pineapple juice, and candy pop rocks around the glass rim for the kids!
The adults can swap out the sparkling grape juice for champagne and add a little bit of pineapple juice. I will probably still add those candy pop rocks to my glass. I mean, why not?
Kid's Countdown Apps and YouTube Videos
Did you know that there are actually countdown apps and videos made for kids? It give the kids a feeling that they are actually apart of the 'real thing'. We have done this in the past, and it was a lot of fun!
Celebrating and ringing in the New Year with kids is fun and exciting.
You can make ringing in the New Year just as exciting with kids. Bring all the countdown fun earlier in the evening. Celebrating New Year’s Eve with kids is something easy to do. You can plan it earlier in the evening so they are still in bed at a reasonable time. Wishing you all health and prosperity in the New Year!
