I normally go with our sugar cookie recipe, but wanted to go another route this past weekend: gingerbread. Gingerbread cookies can be difficult for some kids to love on taste alone. Their [...]

Instructions
  1. Mix the hamburger meat, egg, and seasonings until mixed well. I like to do this before adding bread crumbs to make sure the hamburger meat smells seasoned enough
  2. Add bread crumbs to hamburger meat and mix well; press down into a 11x7 baking dish; I used a glass pyrex with lid to make storage after dinner easier.
  3. When ready to cook the hamburger meat, preheat oven to 400 and bake for 20 minutes; dice onions while hamburger meat is cooking and set aside for later
  4. Allow hamburger meat to cool for about 5 minutes; then drain and blot any grease; I cleaned the baking dish during this time
  5. When you are ready to assemble, take the Hawiaan Rolls and cut directly in half to give a top and bottom bun; then place the bottom bun into the cleaned baking dish
  6. Next, carefully lay the hamburger patty on top followed by the cheese slices
  7. If you are wanting the diced onion, sprinkle it on top of the cheese before putting the top bun on
  8. Lastly, place the top bun on top and cover with aluminum foil; bake for an additional 15 minutes or until cheese has melted and the burgers are heated through
  9. Immediately remove from oven and cut the 12 sliders; serve with desired toppings and side!
Recipe Notes

*Make sure to drain all grease from hamburger meat; if you skip this step, you will have a pretty greasy and soggy hamburger

*For slightly thinner hamburger patties, you can use a 9 x 13 dish

  • 4 slices Bread stale works even better
Instructions
  1. Take the 4 slices of bread and trim off all the crust; then cut each slice into 3 equal 'sticks'
  2. Combine the white sugar, cinnamon, salt, and purple sugar sprinkles on a plate;
  3. Combine the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl; it may be easier to mix with a whisk to get the eggs mixed well with the other ingredients
  4. Melt 2 tbsp of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat
  5. Once the butter is melted, roll the sticks one at a time in the egg mixture, not allowing them to soak; do this in 2 batches, or however many your skillet will accommodate
  6. Cook sticks about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown
  7. Immediately transfer from pan to plate with sugar mixture and roll until stick is covered.
  8. Serve these sticks with a dipping bowl of maple syrup!
Recipe Notes

Do not allow for the sticks to soak in the egg mixture; they will become too soggy. Quickly dip them, and knock off the excess before placing them in the pan.
